But for sheer aplomb, the Golden Globe for best Golden Globe speech has to go to... Hugh Laurie! His comments deserve to be reprinted in near-fullness: "I am speechless. I'm literally without a speech. It seems odd to me that in the weeks leading up to this event, when people are falling over themselves to send you free shoes and free cufflinks and free colonic irrigations for two, nobody offers you a free acceptance speech. It just seems to me to be a gap in the market. I would love to be able to pull out a speech by Dolce & Gabbana."

Laurie thanked his costar Robert Sean Leonard ("I can't remember why. He did give me a reason.") and "a truly wonderful crew. I know everyone says they have a wonderful crew, and logically that can't be the case. They can't all be wonderful. Somebody somewhere is working with a crew of drunken thieves. But it's not me. They are truly a wonderful collection of people...and they smell of newly mown grass." He ended by thanking, well, everyone else in the room, the TV audience and the world: "...and of course you! I left you till last."

Charm, wit, grace — clearly, the Motion Picture Academy needs to get Laurie onstage next month. And not just as a presenter but a recipient. A tough challenge, since he's been devoting most of his time to House. But his most recent movie, an indie effort called The Big Empty, might just make him eligible for Supporting Actor.

la parte finale è piuttosto utopistica, ma sognare è sempre bello (però fargli consegnare un Oscar non sarebbe niente male )

Ah quel discorso resterà epico ho riso per 3 ore di fila!!!

Cmq ho notato che quando Hugh sta per salire sul palco si intravede Jack Nicholson che si alza persino in piedi ad applaudirlo!!


Hugh te ne darei 20 di fila di quelle statuette, anche se poi non ne ha bisogno, il suo straordinario talento è ormai cosa certa, non è una statuetta in più o in meno che quantifica la sua bravura!

Per quanto riguarda l'Oscar oluha, sì è utopistico, ma cmq ci si spera sempre,, alla fine House prima o poi finirà ( ) e credo che Hugh Laurie continuerà la sua brillante carriera e chissà che magari nn arrivi per lui l'occasione giusta

a parte che quell'utopistico lo riferivo al breve termine, cioè il fatto di poterlo vedere ricevere un Oscar mentre continua a fare House, impegnato com'è (su un articolo dicevano che quest'anno sarebbe bello vederlo nominato per la particina microscopica che ha fatto in The Big Empty ancora più di un anno fa...se non è utopia questa ). Poi per il futuro non si può mai dire, specialmente adesso che si sono accorti di quanto è bravo
