Buckley's Rock Version of Romeo and Juliet Is Heading to the StageThe Last Goodbye, a new musical that utilizes the tunes of the late Jeff Buckley, is aiming for a stage debut during the 2010-11 season, according to Variety.
Described as a rock version of Romeo and Juliet, the musical was conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, who also directs. Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, is collaborating with Kimmel on the project.
Last Goodbye features such Buckley tunes as "Lover, You Should've Come Over" and "Eternal Life" as well as songs from the late singer's unfinished second album. The musical also features dialogue from the famed Shakespearean classic.
The industry paper says a New York developmental reading is currently in the works; an out-of-town production is expected. The creative team also includes music director Kris Kukul and creative consultant Lauren Fitzgerald.fonte |
