Okay. Let's move on.

Chances are, you have heard of this show. Most likely multiple times. Perhaps you've heard of it so much, you're sick of hearing about it. Maybe that's why you haven't watched it yet. The truth is, though, there are no excuses as to why you haven't watched this epic show, this cocaine for the eyes.

None whatsoever.

I don't care the reasons you've been feeding your friends, family, loved ones. These reasons are not enough. You are a pathetic excuse for a member of the human race. Am I being too harsh? You tell me. (The answer is no, I am not.) The good news: you can correct this grave misdeed and go back to being a noteworthy member of television-watching society. All you have to do is watch the show.

"But, Michelle," you might ask. "Why should I watch this show? I have no intention of watching this show." Thank you for asking. I have prepared a list of the top ten reasons.




it's not the show you think it is;




Yes, there are vampires. That's kind of inevitable on a show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But what you fail to realize is that they aren't the core of the show. Trust me, I'll be the first to admit that the premise of the show doesn't sound appealing. (I actually polled my friends list before I started watching the series to ask if I should watch, stating that -- and I quote -- "I'm trying to decide whether I want to risk watching a show about vampires and demons.") It's not a show about vampires and demons. They're simply there to help tell the story.

the range of genres;




Honestly, this show has a bit of everything, from action to romance to comedy to drama to horror. It even has a bit of musical in it. And, really, whatever genre it's in, it's doing quality work. This isn't a "teen show," not even close. This isn't even a drama. Or a dramedy. It's an actidramedorrorcal.

the underlying meanings;



You get what you make of it. You can see a soul-sucking demon, or you can see an underlying metaphor about life and what it does to the soul. It can mean as much or as little as you'd like. You get to decide. (But go for the deeper meanings. Joss Whedon didn't painstakingly plan this stuff out for lazy bums like you to just sit around and watch this show for its face value. Please.)

the funny;



Buffy is undoubtedly one of the funniest shows you'll ever watch. The thing is, you wouldn't expect it, because it's not a sitcom. It's not a show you'd typically think was funny. But not an episode goes by without making you crack up at least once. It uses countless jokes which reference other episodes, to reward loyal fans, and obvious jokes for the newbies. And it's not afraid to make fun of itself and its genre, which is even better.

the continuity;


"That's your scary costume?"
"Bunnies frighten me."

"I know this place."

"Little Miss Muffet counting down from 7-3-0."

You know how Veronica has apparently been raped at Shelly's party both in December and in the summer? And how Sylar is one day a puppy-loving, doting father, and the next day a maniacal serial killer? That would never happen on this show. A side comment made one season can be mentioned again, or even explained, years later. Something said one season might be hinting at something that happens two seasons later. There are countless running jokes, which make them even funnier to fans. When something happens on this show, it isn't just forgotten the next episode, or a few episodes later. It's like an actual world in there -- one where the people are believable, and psychologically recognizable, and where the time line actually makes sense. And it's one of the reasons you have to watch this show from the beginning -- to appreciate the flawless continuity.

the ensemble;



This cast is amazing. The way each character interacts, the way they take care of each other, everything. There's no way to describe their relationships, because it's something you just have to watch.

the spike&buffy dynamic;



They're hilarious. They bicker. Then they don't. They will make your heart ache in all kinds of ways, both good and bad. They're proof of evolution.

Really, you have to see him to understand what makes him amazing.

buffy;



Buffy is one of the best characters in television history. It's everything about her -- her witty remarks, her personality, the way she loves her friends and family, the way she'll do anything for them, the relationships she has with certain vampires. She's the epitome of "woman power." Joss Whedon is a feminist, which is obvious when you watch this show. She has her weak moments, but in the end she's one of the most amazing people you'll never meet.

it'll stay with you;



Most shows you watch, and you enjoy, and you feel good having watched them. But at the end of the day, it leaves you just like everything else you've ever watched. Buffy is a show that will never leave you. It might be in a small way, in that you'll just always be rewatching the series. It might be in the bigger way, in that it'll help take your mind off of heavier things. But once you've watched this show, it'll never leave you. It'll stay with you, and you'll be happier for it. I mean it.


In conclusion, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has great actors, beautiful people, and is critically acclaimed. There are at least ten reasons you should watch this show, but, really, there are many more. What more do you people want?

AND REMEMBER: Season1 is the show's worst. Don't judge this show for its first season if you don't like it. I didn't.

vi siete dimenticati di mettere la gif dell'anno 2010 (quella del 2011 è tyrion che schiaffeggia joffrey)

scrivendo "tra l'altro", sembrava che avvalorasse la tua tesi


eh.. per questo non si poteva capire prima

nella serie, sembrava che fosse stato il fuoco a schiudere le uova.. e non è affatto così. le uova erano fossilizzate, non si sarebbero mai schiuse se non con quel tipo di magia (il rogo serviva solo per sacrificare la vita di mirri maz duur e per cremare il corpo di drogo)

e in questa saga la magia non viene quasi mai usata (non era stata mai usata prima di metà secondo libro - con l'incantesimo della maegi - e verrà usata molto raramente anche in futuro)

è proprio per questo che avevo criticato quella scelta.. però, data la sua interpretazione, il suo atteggiamento odioso e quella faccia da prendere a bastonate.. mi sono ricreduto


eh, ripeto, nella serie si intuiva.. ma dai libri no.

le uova erano fossilizzate, erano pietra.. non potevano schiudersi.

se si sono schiuse è solo tramite l'incantesimo di sangue fatto da dany (che nessuno si poteva aspettare).

nella scena finale, non si è capito.. ma quello era un incantesimo di sangue, non un semplice rogo. Non è stato fatto vedere (e avrebbero dovuto) ma anche in questa occasione c'era stato bisogno del veicolo per fare l'incantesimo.. ovvero il sangue (avrebbero dovuto far vedere che veniva sacrificato un altro cavallo, a tal scopo)

e anche in questa occasione c'era stato bisogno di sacrificare una vita umana (in questo caso, mirri maz duur) per dare vita a qualcosa che non ne aveva più da centinaia di anni


e, comunque, le mani non se le era scottate perchè lei ha il sangue di drago nelle vene.. il fuoco non le fa nulla (come si è visto anche quando è entrata nel rogo)

ah, vanni.. ma quando Tywin scuoia il cervo all'inizio della 1.07 (metafora dei Lannister che scuoiano il cervo Baratheon, in caso non ci abbiate pensato) .. quel cervo è vero o finto?

io l'avevo dato per vero perchè era così perfetto che mi era impossibile pensare altrimenti.. la muscolatura, la pelliccia, il sangue..

il buon Ockham con il suo rasoio era corso in mio aiuto ad eliminare tutte le altre possibilità e a dare per vera la soluzione che mi appariva evidente

solo che mi è stato fatto notare che, se quel cervo fosse stato vero, gli animalisti avrebbero potuto far chiudere lo show

puoi vedere se si trova qualche notizia al riguardo?

concordo con tutto quello che ha scritto ciufy..


tutta.. sono riusciti a rendere la stessa drammaticità che martin aveva profuso in quei capitoli. sia quando mirri parla a dany.. sia, soprattutto, quando dany resta da sola nella tenda con drogo.. quando cerca in tutti i modi di "risvegliarlo" ma si rende conto che è impossibile e prende la decisione più dura della sua vita. quella scena è assolutamente perfetta.. identica a come era stata descritta nel libro.

per non parlare della scena finale.. fantastica


ti capisco.. quando stava per cominciare l'ultima scena, ho pensato tra me e me "non fate cazzate.. non fate cazzate.. non fate cazzate"

..la HBO ha rispettato le aspettative.


ma da brividi sono state anche le scene in cui gli alfieri stark incoronano Robb a re del nord

o quella in cui viene pronunciato il giuramento dei guardiani della notte (come avevi già detto)

o i propositi di vendetta di Cat ("prima salviamo le ragazze e poi li uccideremo tutti")

ah, devo ricredermi su una cosa..

quando era uscito il cast di GoT mi sono lamentato della scelta dell'attore che doveva interpretare joffrey

dopo aver visto questa prima stagione, devo dire che mi sbagliavo.. c'hanno azzeccato in pieno. quel ragazzo c'ha proprio la faccia da stronzo.. e la parte gli riesce perfettamente.

e sono contento, anche, della scelta dell'attrice che interpreta Cat. Ero stato critico all'inizio perchè me l'aspettavo più giovane, ma lei è stata bravissima (una delle interpretazioni migliori)

ti posso assicurare che leggendo i libri, non era affatto scontata, anzi.


avrebbe avuto un senso anche in caso di invasione dothraki, eh (come, del resto, sarebbe accaduto se a drogo non fosse successo quello che è successo)


è per questo che non so come potresti aspettare un anno per vedere quello che succede.. tra l'altro i libri sono proprio tutta un'altra cosa


ma principe è strano.. bastava vedere i suoi commenti su Buffy..

a parte gli scherzi, posso parlare per quello che riguarda me. Io sono un grande fan di aSoIaF (e sono stato tra quelli che hanno consigliato a vanni la lettura di questa saga) e conosco i libri a memoria. Eppure, nonostante questo, non vedevo l'ora che venisse lunedì mattina per scaricarmi e vedermi la puntata. E ho apprezzato moltissimo questa serie anche se conoscevo la storia meglio di Benioff e Weiss. Anzi, penso che proprio chi ha letto i libri ha potuto apprezzarla maggiormente perchè ha riconosciuto/apprezzato tutte le chicche che gli autori ci hanno inserito e ci inseriranno in futuro (dai particolari minuziosi alle innumerevoli citazioni prese direttamente dai libri) oltre all'ovvio piacere di poter vedere in video questa storia stupenda e i propri personaggi preferiti

Poi, è ovvio che la serie non può/poteva essere identica al libro ma il lavoro che ha fatto la HBO è di altissimo livello.. questo dovrebbe essere una garanzia per le prossime stagioni affinchè chi ha letto i libri non rimanga deluso

Inoltre chi legge i libri è comunque avvantaggiato, in momenti come la 1.09, quando tagliano delle scene importanti (come le 2 battaglie). In quel caso io sapevo cosa succedeva quindi per me non era un problema.. il problema era per chi vedeva la serie senza conoscere la storia.
E, per ultimo, nella serie sono stati aggiunti alcuni dialoghi che, se hai letto la saga, ti fanno vedere gli avvenimenti sotto una prospettiva che non avevi preso in considerazione mentre se non l'hai letta sono dialoghi utili solo alla comprensione della puntata

per quanto mi riguarda, posso dirti che se leggi i libri hai una visione più ampia del tutto che non ti preclude il piacere nel guardarti la serie
